Yvonne obtained degrees in Commerce and Law from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia in 1999 and 2000 respectively and thereafter read in Chambers with the Firm. After being called to the Peninsular Malaysian Bar in January 2002, Yvonne was assigned to Darryl Goon’s section for a number of years, where she assisted Darryl Goon in a variety of litigation matters. In 2005 she was transferred to the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group, where her litigation experience was especially useful in handling contentious IP matters. Yvonne took a break from practice from July 2008 until January 2009 when she resumed her role of assisting Chew Phye Keat in the supervision of the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group. Yvonne became a partner with effect from 1st March 2011. She is a registered trade mark, patent and industrial designs agent and deals with all types of intellectual property issues, including brand strategising, IP policies and enforcement and undertaking litigation where necessary. Her main focus is in the areas of patent, trade mark and copyright where she advises clients that range from sole proprietorships up to multinational companies on the protection and enforcement of their rights in those areas.
